i am an artist, dreamer, and a lover of literature of all kinds, ranging from tarot cards to family recipes to ancient texts like the bible. i earned a Master’s of Divinity at Union Theological Seminary with a self designed focus on social trauma, community building, and bible study for collective healing. i called this concentration: blackness, bible, and belonging. at Union, i was awarded the 2022 Kneeland Preaching Prize for a sermon manuscript titled: How Long Oh, Lord?: Reflections on the Breonna Taylor Case. i continue to reflect on the bible and the black experience through the continuing revelation that is my every day as a black queer femme and practicing Quaker. more than anything, i hope to show up in this world as a supportive Friend. thanks for visiting!
with gratitude,
nova

the black femme bible study is a series i am honored to facilitate. it began as my Masters thesis at Union Theological Seminary and has grown into something i am so proud of.
the methodology for the black femme bible study is rooted in womanist and liberation theologies, the Ujamaa Center for Biblical and Theological Community Development and Research’s Manual for Contextual Bible Study and my own Quaker practice.
the black femme bible study is available as a one time, 90 minute workshop or as a 30 minute multi day workshop series.

this workshop focuses on supporting the living and well being of trans folks with a variety of spiritual tools including but not limited to art, story, gender expansive naming of divinity, and worshipful sharing and planning of communal action in solidarity.
spiritual tools for supporting trans life is available as a 90 minute workshop.
